What a busy March we have had in nursery. We finished our Gingerbread Man travels with a trip to London. We had lots of fun sharing the Paddington Bear stories of his trip to London. We looked at some of the buildings in London and talked about the different shapes we could see – we then used the shapes to create pictures, and our friends had to guess which buildings we made. We tested out the best construction resources for a bridge and used a red bus to travel across safely. We learnt about the King and used our cutting skills to make our own crowns. We learned about ordinal numbers too. We had lots of fun building our own Buckingham Place outside and thought about what questions we would like to ask the King too. We have sent a special card to the King and are excited to see if we get a reply.
To finish the term and month, we began to explore the changing of the season and arrival of Spring. We went on a Spring hunt in our garden to look for signs of Spring and did some beautiful observational paintings of daffodils – they look beautiful on display in our cloakroom. We have also been learning about baby animals and thought about how special our Mummies are to us. We had to concentrate hard to trace the flowers on the front of our cards and used our funky fingers to make salt dough heart decorations. Finally, we have been learning about the celebration of Easter. We were very lucky that Mr Scott came to story time and shared the Easter story with us. We have also been very creative with our Easter cards and have planted a sunflower seed to take home to grow.
