Achievement – Celebration – Teamwork

‘An Ofsted outstanding school’

November in Nursery

We came back after the half term and began by learning about Bonfire Night. In our skills time, we learnt different smudging techniques with chalk and created some fantastic firework pictures.

With the nights starting to get darker, we talked about being safe at night time and how to cross the road safely too – we even practised on the road in our garden.

For Remembrance Day celebrations, we used our scissor skills to snip cellophane to create our own stained window style poppy pictures to put up in our home. We talked about the different ways we can say thank you to everyone keeping us safe. We used lots of different things in our loose parts area to create poppies too.

We have been carrying on our topic ‘All About Me’ by learning about our pets. We talked about the pets we have and used the You Choose book to talk about the pets we’d like to have! In our maths time, we sorted pictures of different animals by the number of legs they have. Using our construction resources, we made models of different homes for pets too.

Next, we have been learning about our 5 senses and how they can help us explore the world around us. We used our senses to go on a sense hunt around the nursery garden, it was lots of fun ticking all the things off the list. We used our funky fingers to make a face out of playdough.
