To start our new topic ‘The World Around Me’, we have been learning about the story of the Gingerbread Man. We listened to the story and retold it using the puppets. We used our funky fingers to make our own yummy Gingerbread biscuits. In our maths skills time, we played the roll and cover game, rolling the dice, counting the spots and covering the number with a counter. We counted the right number of buttons other gingerbread needed too.
The Gingerbread Man is now going on a journey around the world – starting with China. We use the globe and atlas to find out where China is and how far away it is from England. We listened to the story ‘Cleversticks’ and had a go at using the chopsticks when we tested some noodles, rice and prawn crackers. We celebrated Chinese New Year in nursery, by dressing up in traditional Chinese clothes, learning how to write some Chinese numbers and making our own paper lanterns.
We can’t wait to find out where the Gingerbread Man is going to visit next.
