Talking Circles

What are Talking Circles?

Talking Circles are mixed age groups of children who regularly meet together.
Every child from reception to year 4 is a part of a talking circle.

Why do we have a Talking Circle system?

We feel that it is vitally important that every child in our school feels included and has a say about issues in school.

What sort of issues and problems do the Talking Circles discuss?

They talk about issues which effect the children in school such as: children’s behaviour, the playground, building and grounds, homework, learning and they also get involved in fundraising.

How are they run?

Each child will be in the same talking circle for the duration of their time at Icknield Walk First School. Each talking circle is supported by a teacher. The year 4 children in each circle help to lead the meetings and discussions.
