It’s been a busy half- term in Year 1 ! Both classes have loved learning all about our topic of toys. We started off the topic with a visit from the magical toy museum, where the children learnt all about the history of the teddy bear and toys from the past.
This then inspired our English learning which we took outside. We read the story Lost in the Toy Museum and the children pretended that they were Bunting (a character from the story) and the pupils sorted toys that they had gathered outside depending on whether they were natural, man-made, old or new.
Lastly, we had a visit from Marion Zielentino, the author of the children’s book Billy Bunny and the woodpecker nest. Marion shared the story with the children and they acted out the story with some props that she brought in.
